Sunset Cocktails at the Monarch Beach Resort

We have a new local luxury resort her in South Orange County!

The Monarch Beach Resort

 in Dana Point.

When I first began seeing mentions of a new resort in June

I couldn't imagine where there could be undeveloped ocean front property 

anywhere near here to build a new luxury resort!

Ends up that's because 

Monarch Beach Resort

used to be
The St. Regis.

Mystery solved.

I hadn't been back to revisit the St. Regis for years

because I wasn't a fan of their aesthetics …

a bit of a 

'let's pretend we're in Europe'

kind of a vibe.

I for one think SoCal has so much beauty and beach culture

I much prefer properties

that celebrate our local beauty.

The new Monarch Beach Resort

certainly has captured much more of that 

with their fresh and modern update of the property.

Especially for a property that the coastline views are it's biggest selling point.

The  St. Regis Resort was sold in 2014 for $316 million

and 

has since had $40 million dollars in renovations and rebranding.
Money well spent
highlighting the incredible views with some SoCal freshness.

The property is actually across Pacific Coast Highway and from the beach
but the exceptional site positioning
puts you  far above the highway view
which means
a perfect  panoramic sunset view!

Jeff and I had sunset cocktails in 

Aveo Table + Bar

This Mediterranean concept restaurant embraces a 

"Farm to Bar" approach

with it's 

"Reinvention of Coastal Cuisine".

Which is all absolutely lovely

but 

I was completely drawn to the restaurant

after seeing the gorgeous  wall of tiles

and …

the spectacular  almost 180 degree panoramic view!

While at the Monarch Beach Resort

 you can also check out 

33 Degrees North

another amazing view bar.

"Designed as a convivial living room of the resort"

"the outdoor ocean view living room"

truly is the 

"Best Perch in the House."

Especially while we were there

not only did we witness a stellar sunset

but saw a most lovely wedding taking place on the grounds below.

So  my advice is
if you find yourself in SoCal

and
 are up for a high end sunset and cocktails

The Monarch Beach Resort

will definitely fit the bill!
