Summer Hats

Now that we are the midst of summer here in Southern California
I thought it was the perfect time
to recap my headwear of this season
and
a perfect time to join in on
the Style Crone's
 Hat Attack!

If you don't know Judith
she has appeared regularly on
Advanced Style
as well as being a huge supporter of all things millenary.
But it is her heart that has taken mine!

Looking back this season
there have been a few regular hat players!

My extra large straw
is always perfect for sunny SoCal days
not only for it's chic presence
but even more importantly
sun protection!
I never go out in the sun without some sort of hat
for sun protection
(as well as a good slathering of sunblock!).

My beloved Panama
gets the most regular daily use this summer.
It is an easy go to
for almost any look.
From summer brights in Palm Springs …

to pairing with a ball skirt …

a silk jacket in LA …

a casual beach picnic in Corona Del Mar …

basic neutral errand running pieces …

I even paired it with my Little Tokyo find
when visiting LA's Silverlake!

If you want to get your feet wet in the hat department
I highly recommend the ever versatile Panama.
You will soon be wondering how you ever got along without one!

I pulled out my straw fedora this summer …

And I have been playing with head scarves as well.
I have been making an effort to make running errands
more enjoyable
by styling outfits on the fly for the occasion.
I am never let down by the little extra effort
making the mundane more enjoyable!

If I'm not wearing a Panama
you will most likely find me
daily in one of my turbans ….

Turbans keep my hair off my face in the summer heat
they mean no time spent doing my hair …

and are always a chic finishing touch
to any outfit!

I am also loving my latest creation
my orchid crown!
Made from the highest quality faux flowers ...

It is always such a joy to wear!

The same goes for my flower crown
made on a headband base
with my DIY for it here!

So there you have it!
My hat and head wear  roundup for
the summer thus far!

If you haven't tried hats yet
I highly recommend you give them a try …
if not just for the sun protection!

As always my friends

I wish you love and joy
as you style your life

Apres ... Surfing

This Friday night I wanted to change things up  a bit
and
surf before our date night out.
So it  took a bit of preplanning to cover all the wardrobe bases
to style this Friday night.

I chose a date night outfit
that would be an easy change  after surfing

a pull on skirt and sweater
with you guessed it

plenty of accessories
to properly set off the casual attire.

Slipping on a turban
is the perfect
after surf
wet hair solve!

My newest accessory obsessions
anklet collections
these  beauties will soon will be making it into my
along with this bone and shell necklace.

After my quick change and photos
we made it up the hill in Dana Point
for a lovely sunset of cocktails and appetizers.

Making it a perfect Friday night
of surfing and a date night.

As always my friends

I wish you love and joy
as you style your life

... summer wardrobe recap ...

Today was the first day back for my high school senior...

The summer has been edited from my house...
both figuratively...
and literally.

My summer decor has been boxed...
waiting for it's trip to storage to be swapped out for
my long awaited fall decor.

As my interior style  has been reduced to a neutral pallet...
and before I jump in fully to my fall styling...
I am spending today reflecting back on my favorites of this years
summer style...

beginning with my favorites of ....
what I wore this summer.

I still am in love with
nautical stripes... and summer whites... and of course...
 my summer panama hats.

This silk patio dress served me so very well this summer...
so much just seeing it brings back so many happy summer memories.

My antique rattan version of a clutch..
(I know it is not truly a clutch... but it fills in just like one)
is still one of my favorite finds in downtown LA this summer.
It made it out almost every time I needed a summer evening bag.

I am still absolutely in love with my
floral headbands...
I have no doubt I will be able to work this piece into some fall ensembles...
as I made sure when I was designing it...
to include some antique velvet flowers to insure it's fit into any season styling.
( I have a DIY for your own floral headband here).

My foray into working turbans into my wardrobe...
is something that I also have immense fondness for...
and will be designing some fall/winter versions to be sure.

I originally did some versions to be worn at home...
in lieu of having to 'do' my hair...
but found they were great stylish answers after mountain bike rides and work outs...
and
a perfect stylish solve for walks on the beach...
They kept my hair in place...
and I stilled looked perfectly put together for shopping at Crystal Cove.

I did some secondary versions (top left corner)
that were larger and out of stretch velvet...
that were a perfect summer solve for hot summer nights out.

My fox stole is something I long to wear. again...
with the heat recently...
it has only been a decorative piece in my room...
but it will be my first go to piece once weather permits...
I have so many ideas...
I have even recently found  matching cuffs...
I can't wait to style these pieces!!

So with summer's end...
comes my favorite season...
so...

let the fall wardrobe styling begin!
