Today's beauty quest...
a little summer flourishing in the living room...
I gave myself the challenge of one stop 'fluffing'
the destination...
the grocery market...
to pick up some 'living garnish ...to bring some more summer life into the space.
I was happy to find the lilies...
but I still wanted a little something more...
a little off beat, a little sculptural...and still the monotone whites I had chosen...
white onions...
the perfect addition!
right now I love everything about them...
the structure, the texture, the color, the imperfect peelings...
their plainness... elevated to sculpture with their placement
white gladiolus now fill my urns...
tied with some plain white string...to help contain them upright...
my summer apples...
my contained summer treasures...
the sheds embracing the onions...
staging a still life...
with the old milk bottle vase and flea market tray
my summer aesthetic...
highlighting the ordinary...
editing away everything unnecessary...
to truly experience and see the beauty that is here...
selective attention and intention...
a concept I am trying to integrate into my life as a whole...
styling ones life can be healing....
It is where we put our attention that helps.
As always my dear friends...
I wish you love and joy
as you style your life
thanks ever so much for stopping by

This post is a gem, as it requires a focus on the simple and seemingly mundane. The beauty you present, for example in simple white onions, is something so easily overlooked. It demands a slowing down, and reassessing of what's important and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder.
Love the way you pulled in the white onions! Genius!!

ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with the way you style your life, I always look forward to seeing whatever you want to show us. You have an amazing creativity so it comes out to us who read your blog and thank you for sharing your thoughts. Sometimes life turns around so we can see the light on the horizon in the same way in your photos - always so beautiful. It is the simplicity of your creation that creates the great.

Beautiful accents. They give the room such personality!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful display. I love how you describe your process as you add each piece and then relate it to your life experience. 'Selective attention and intention.' The artist in you is blooming and we are the beneficiaries. I am truly honored by the mention.
ReplyDeleteTamera, so much of what you said above I have felt too, in particular the last 2 weeks.A good friend actually told me to stop being negative. Ouch. I am embarrassed I was negative but it is difficult to keep it inside sometimes. Just really feeling you. xo
ReplyDeleteI don't know how this comment landed here, but it was meant for the other post. :-)
