“Spacer"/

what i wore....2011 ....

You'd never know by how many pictures of myself I have posted since I started blogging in June...but before this year there were very few photos of me in our family scrapbook.  Mainly because I was usually the photographer....but also because I was uncomfortable about howI looked.

I was uncomfortable...because I really hadn't taken the time to really figure out what I looked like or what I wanted to look like as my life role was changing
and
I was getting older.

It was easier and more familiar for me to obsess and lose myself in my children
in the name of motherhood.

This was one of the first pictures I took of myself...
I was away by myself on my creative get away.  I remember feeling so foolish at the mere idea of taking a picture of myself...

but even odder...
the realization that I could not remember the last time I had a photo of just me...
not me and my kids...
not me and my husband
but
just me.

The realization stung as I recognized how very personally lost I had become.

So I started taking....

weekly photos of my outfits....
linking up with Lindsey...

I still remember how awkward...painful actually
standing in front of the camera...
but each week I showed up...
I wouldn't let myself skip a week...
I didn't think I would ever continue....
if I did.

It eventually got easier...
some weeks more than others...
I learned how to stand
and manipulate the photos to my advantage...

Being before the camera has never yet been something I enjoy...
Each time I must face bad shots...
take many, many to get one I like...
and
oh so quickly delete the rest...

What I have learned from this...
I didn't look as bad as I had feared...
sometimes it's a good shot...
sometimes it's really bad...
and I know my reality is somewhere in between.

I have become ok with myself...
I am what I am...

I realize
even though I'm getting older...
I still enjoy clothes...
and love accessories
I'm so happy and grateful to be designing accessories again

I don't have to give up style ...

rather I can continue to grow and develop a style
 that works for me.

wishing you love and joy
 as you style your life

thanks so for stopping by.
