Pro Aging
I thought today I would share some of my favorite
dressing tips for a curvy body type.
Loving what your wearing is just another way you can
Crown Yourself!
As someone who has had many body issues
in my past
that came with a host of eating disorders
that stole years from my life
in their intensity
I can say one of the many gifts of aging
is making peace with my body type
and
learning to celebrate my curves.
By this time in my life
I know
I'll never be as young as I am today
so it is time
to love the body I am in right now.
I don't want to waste any more time bemoaning
my body flaws
rather
I want to celebrate
I want to celebrate
my middle age self!
My first tip for dressing a curvy body
Posture.
This is something I am working on continually.
When you feel sometimes
that you are larger than life
there are always two options
one to turn inward with bad posture and try to look smaller
(which by the way never works)
or head up
and
claim your size
with great posture and head held high!
Next to posture
great shape wear
is the best investment!
Money well spent on seamless shape wear
is always the best way to start building an outfit!
A long continuous line
with a skimming not tight cut
is always flattering
on almost all body types.
I have
raised my waist line
raised my waist line
with the tie top
as my natural waist line is in flux these days.
The long body line is also extended with
a higher shoe beneath this wonderful cut maxi.
a higher shoe beneath this wonderful cut maxi.
I always choose
accessories that are in proportion
to my size.
accessories that are in proportion
to my size.
Being larger enables me to go for
bold dramatic accessories.
An oversized bag is always in proportion
for me.
My top ProAging
tips for dressing
my curvy middle age body
Posture
Great Shape Wear
Long lines
Raise the waistline
Accessory Proportions
I must admit
a loving photographer makes
all of these tips
look their very best!
As always my friends
I wish you love and joy
as you style your life
Tamera,a fabulous post! I agree with all five suggestions especially the posture and seamless shapewear.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and commenting Ugeena!
DeleteI love that line....I'll never be as young as I am today...
ReplyDeleteGreat tips...especially the posture...thanks! You look fabulous in California's golden light.
Thank you ever so much dearest Sue for visiting! xo
DeleteGreat reminders, Tamera. Posture especially is so important. You look gorgeous here!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much Susan!! xo
DeleteI learned to reconcile with my body (including wrinkles etc.) since I got older and I take care
ReplyDeleteof my posture (especially because I am only 16o cm.) and weight but not fanatical.
Isn't it beautiful to age with that mindset? But it never should keep from doing your best to look great. And you look gorgeous
Tamera in that outfit as well as in others.
Mumbai I completely agree with you dear! i believe the better we feel about our own unique selves … the more likely we are to take good care of ourselves … to be the very best versions of ourselves! I feel very grateful that I have the time for an active and healthy life style! Use it or lose it … is definitely my mindset for healthy aging!
DeleteThank you so much for visiting and taking the time to comment!!
Three words...YOU LOOK FABULOUS...
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge compliment coming from your very gorgeous self!! xo
DeleteYou are a somptuous women with a great posture and ....chest. Very sexy lady. I don't understand why you speak always of your age! 50 is the new 40 now and your face is stunning and your clothes so adapt for an artist like you.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful.
Thank you very much for your kind words Jeanne! I speak about my age as I am very intent on making peace with the process of aging and finding every gift that comes along with it. I am often working out my feelings about the subject in my writings. I want to be a Pro Aging voice … because the opportunity to age is a gift. Thank you again for your gift of words my dear! xo
DeleteFunny you should mention Posture. I was sitting next to you at the seminar the other day. What did I notice? Your posture. You sat straight up for two hours with out touching the back of the chair once! I was so imspired that you made me sit straighter also! Now when you speak of seamless shape wear. Do you mean something like spanx? I have an abundant busom and have a very dificult time finding clothes that will fit. Very frustrating. But I can at least improve my posture!
ReplyDeleteHello Sandra! It was such a pleasure to meet you at Tziporah"s seminar! Only wished we could have talked more!
DeleteYes, by seamless shape wear, I am talking Spanx type garments and well fitting seamless bras. I have found well fitting undergarments to be such confidence boosters and really even help with being mindful of posture. I also go to the gym to really help engage my core muscles … they have spent too many years … ignored. I think if's exciting at my age … to still be able to see improvements! Just takes a bit longer!
Thank you so much for stopping by my dear! xo
I agree!! You look fabulous!! I never see any flaws!👍😘
ReplyDeleteAww Loreen …. you are just the sweetest my dear! xo
DeletePro Aging. So important in this age of self-definition. You are the best role model. I must say that I got a little light headed at the thought of shape wear but as my waist disappears and I am deep into my 61st year maybe it is time I went shopping. That first bra back in 6th grade was an adjustment, too, but I eventually learned to love it.
ReplyDeleteHey Gorgeous thank you for visiting my dear! Talk about a great role model … you are looking fabulous! Yes, shape wear can be a daunting prospect … but luckily such improvements are being made in the industry … there are actually some sexy options! I am willing to do what ever I can … to put some oomph back in my step! Big hugs darling! xo
DeleteThank you for this great advice . Looking as gorgeous as ever in these lovingly taken shots.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jill dear! And may I say, you are looking so lovely these days! So funny that you are preparing for spring again in Tazmania … as we are looking forward to our fall! Sending big hugs down south to you! xo
DeleteAbsolutely wonderful. The look is beautiful and the dress is very nice.
ReplyDeleteJosep-Maria why thank you very much my dear! Big thanks to you for visiting!
DeleteWonderful line - I will never be as young as I am today. Totally understand the body issues. I too am now at peace with my self. How much time I wasted worrying. When I look back at photo's I was never as big as I thought I was. I wore a tie top today - before I read your blog and noticed right away how it worked. Thank you for your inspiring thoughts.
ReplyDeleteSandra thank you very much for your comment. I can definitely relate … I cringe when I think how painfully critical I was of a body I would love to have now! That's why I think it is so important for the ida of beauty to be expanded … so young women coming behind us … don't have to waste so much time … not celebrating who they are! When we all can relish in our own unique beauty … we will all have so much more time and love to put out into the world!
DeleteThank you so much for stopping by my dear! xo
Gorgeous you, plus perfect tips, which work so well Tamera! Thank you for celebrating us!!

DeleteWhat a gorgeous outfit! Normally you wear so many oversized layers we don't get a chance to see your body...which is fabulous! I love that you're wearing something that shows it off for a change.

Suzanne
Aww thank you Suzanne for your sweet words my dear!
DeleteBig congrats on pulling of such a wildly successful Bloggers Meet Up! You all sure looked like you had such a fabulous time!! xo
Good Afternoon Tamera, You look so beautiful in your outfit.... I love the oversized sun glasses and hat. The quote, 'I will never be as young as I am today' is so true. I look back at photographs of myself in younger days and I realise now how gorgeous I was.... I'm sorry, I don't mean that to sound conceited, but I had no idea, as I was busy bringing up my two daughters. I wish I had stopped and appreciated myself back then..... but there is still time.
DeleteYou really are a shiny example of how we should feel.
Have a wonderful day.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Daphne thank you for your visit and comment my dear! Yes, it is startling as an adult to look back at y young self and realize how I didn't appreciate who I was at the time. But now I am using that realization to … appreciate what I do have today … because in another 20 years … even this will be different.
DeleteThanks again for visiting!
You always look stunning, Tamera. This post is no exception. The ProAging movement is a gift to embrace daily!
ReplyDeleteThank you dearest Judith! And yes, ProAging is my new mantra! Thank you for visiting my dear! xo
DeleteMy waistline has been in flux my whole life! I am an apple shape, nothing to do with middle aged that's just my genetic shape, I look pregnant as an 8 year old in my bikini! Like you, tonal dressing, is a must, I'm also small so can't can't myself in half, you look like a beautiful figurehead here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. As a "short" person (I like to say I'm just the right size for me) these guidelines still fit. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHad to smile here as I've often thought we have a similar build. Mine also morphs periodically, but the basics stay the same. Your suggestions are great, although shape wear makes me too hot and I hate being squeezed, except by people I love. You look perfect in these pics and I'm going to attend to my posture immediately!!! XXOO
ReplyDeleteP.S. I swear by the "half-tuck", i.e. a looser longer top tucked in pants or a skirt (not too full) in the front only. It can make short waists look longer and it's gentle on the belly and love-handles. Plus it's comfortable and adds a little casual attitude. Or so I like to think, haha!
ReplyDeleteTamera, thank you so much for sharing yourself and your gorgeous hat with Hat Attack. Your ongoing participation means so much to me. I also appreciate your heartfelt, thoughtful and beautifully written comments. xo
