Wrapping A Gift Card To Make It Extra Special

Last weekend we had the honor of being invited
to a wedding
of a very creative young couple.
I knew I wanted to give them a gift card to their registered store
but I also knew I wanted to present the gift card
with creative flair
to celebrate the very important occasion!

I found a wooden box on  Target's organizational isle
and took it home and
spray painted it, inside and out with
chalkboard paint!
I took my time with this process
giving it several light coats
to make sure the box was evenly coated
with no drip marks.

I bought a sweet wedding card
and placed the gift card inside
lightly gluing the top edge of  the gift card in place
then I  tied it all up with a sweet little bow.

I found an adorable set of love bird salt and pepper shakers
that seemed the perfect token towards setting up a new household together!
These lovebirds were tucked safely in a nest of turquoise shred
and
topped off with the card and lid.

In Target I also found ceramic tags in their organizational section.
These tags were so cute,
they were actually the inspiration for the whole packaging design!

After their names were added
I simply wrapped the box with twine
tied on the ceramic tags
and
 garnished the present with
lavender and citrus from the garden!

The present was wrapped as special
as the  occasion!

As always my friends

I wish you love and joy
as you style your life

  1. I love this idea! I am always so worried that a gift card will be taken as too impersonal but doing something like this makes it so special! Thanks so much!

  4. This is absolutely breathtaking. The thoughtfulness you've shown making this so special will surely be appreciated. I expect the couple will keep the box and reuse it some way. The lovebirds are perfect for a wedding gift. All this before they get to the gift card. You definitely have wonderful style. Thanks for the inspiration.

  6. Beautiful! A treasure really! Not only adds a very personal dimension to a gift card, but makes it less likely to be mislaid, something I worry about with a gift card. Did you use a sharpie to write the names on the tags?

    1. Sue, yes I did use a sharpie … because I wanted it to be permeant … but you can also use dry erase … if you want to be able to reuse the ceramic tags.

I thought of you today … as I spent over an hour trying to get some great shots for my post tomorrow. It does take much time and practice to improve ones photography … but I'm happy with my progress! Your's are looking wonderful too!
