“Spacer"/

sequins, feathers.... and overalls...

Sequins, feathers and overalls...
not three words I would tend to think go together...
but in my attempt to challenge myself creatively...
I am very happy with the result!

My white Anthropologie overalls...
an unusual  piece for me...
but wanting a styling challenge..

I am reworking often them to see what I can come up with....
last week they made a successful trip to the antique market...

This week I'm wearing them...straps down...with my sequin jacket...and heels

pulling it all together...
my new velvet and feather brooch....

overalls-anthropologie, shoe booties-DKNY, shell T-Vince, jacket Zara, brooch Tamera Beardsley

This outfit had that really fun to wear vibe...that I'm always looking for.
I think it was the juxtaposition of overalls strap down...
plus the sequins and plate sized corsage brooch....
with the neutral palette from keeping it from being completely over the top.
It made for a perfect  summer Sunday in LA outfit!

This fabulous and fun brooch...
is just too easy for a DIY

I simply found a huge velvet flower at the craft store...
got out my beloved glue gun
added some feathers behind
and topped it all of with a vintage brooch center....

Voila!

as always dear friends...

I wish you love and joy
as you style your life

  3. I never would've thought to put those things together either and yet you make it look effortless and chic. It is nice to see the confidence you have in wearing something like this...I don't think I could do it. I could do the brooch though! : )

I love your style; I love the fact that you add some "kick", without looking like a clown; or looking as if you're trying too hard.......you make it look effortless.

Thank you for your blog and your wonderful DIY ideas.

    1. Catherine, thank you for taking the time to leave such a great comments!

Yes, i do try to add some kick in my outfits...for creativity and a personal touch. And I do try to balance it out and not do too many 'out there' pieces all at once. Your clown reference had me chuckling all day.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog!

  11. I don't think I have ever yet worn sequins, but you showed us here that you can wear it in a very fun, stylish and yet unstated way. Fabulous!

  14. Hi Tamera,

A bit of hip hop happening here, I see. Very interesting my dear. But I have to tell you how influential you've been already. Late last night, I gathered up all my bits and pieces of jewelry from every which where and brought it all into my studio to ... SORT. omg, that's as far as I've gotten so far. In fact, I haven't even gone back in yet this morning because it's such a mess. But I will. I'll keep you posted.

  16. Only you could make overalls look glamorous! The sequins and feathers, and of course the shoes, make this ensemble a show stopper. The way you describe the process of brooch creation makes me think that even I could do it.

  17. Now THIS is So Cal glam!!! I remember trying to style some overalls back in the day similarly to this. I like how you can wear sequins and heels, but because of the overalls, you're not overdressed. Sheer genius.

  18. Just stunning! And I love the brooch. I have a similar one from Stella & Dot...never would have thought I could put it together myself.

  22. Ha ha - I'm laughing because I love this outfit so much. Your cheeky pairing of the overalls with the sequins and BAM brooch is sensational. I would have liked to have seen you holding a little fluffy white dog in this, though. When I see you I think Zsa Zsa Gabor.

  23. Beautiful as always. Love the brooch.
