I'm Going To Another Blogging Conference … Notes to Myself On How Not To Lose My Mind

I will be attending another blogging conference next week
so I wanted to remind myself
how not to lose my mind while I'm there.

In an arena with not only so much new information
but
so many accomplished women as well
I have learned
when attending
to go in with specific intent
so as not to come out
dazed and intimidated
wondering
"What in the world have I done with my life?"

I will
Remember to respect my own story.

Life is not a competition.  We all have our own paths in life
as well as our own peaks and valleys as we travel our journey.
I  will respect how hard I have worked
to be authentically  me in this moment.

Comparison is always a thief of joy.
I will remember to celebrate the accomplishments of others
without holding my life up to compare.

I will remember
Not to judge my own life movie
to someone else's highlight  reel.

I will not compare my insides
to someone else's outsides.

I will be open to new ways of working.

I will listen well
take notes
learn
but not expect I can immediately
put new ideas into practice
no matter how great they sound at the time.

I will engage intently to new ideas
while still knowing
they will still need time
to manifest and digest
before they can turn into actions.

I will remain open to the experience of the conference

this moment in time

ready to gather all the good I can find.

I will be looking for the sacred
that can come from shared life experiences.

I will remember
when I feel nervous, scared
or
 just uncomfortable

to show up
and
be a blessing

not a bitch.

I will not in my discomfort
fall prey
to gossiping
or
 finding fault with others.

I intend to use my energy
only to learn
connect
and
 empower myself
and
others.

I will never try to build myself up
by bringing others down.

I will  remind myself
although I am at a conference to gain new knowledge
in my field
I am really here
for the human connections
especially with the friends I love
and
want to celebrate and support!

I will recognize
that sometimes
when I get uncomfortable
I have a tendency
to slip into
critical judgement
whether it be of myself or others.

I will at those times remind myself
I have grown past
my first reactions
of judgement
and
 now
will dig deep during those times
to go outside of myself
to find the beauty and truth
in the moment .

I will remember
the best
most sacred moments in life
aren't about me
but rather
in the true connecting with others.

The sharing of stories
the true connecting of souls.

I will not let my ego
drown out potential
sacred moments

but rather
I will travel with the intent
of what good can I do
in any given moment.

Lastly
I will remember
to respect the alone time I do need
to recharge
and
refocus
in order to be able
be do the most good I can.

I will remember to pack
grace for self
so I will have plenty to share with others.

My intent for my trip
is to not only be open
to sacred moments
but
to actually seek them out.

As always my friends

I wish you love and joy
as you style your life

  10. I agree with Beth. This is the perfect post at the perfect moment. You have definitely graced me with your words at a rather rough patch in life for me. I do believe that in everyday life we are sent just what we need through another person. Today you are that person and you have given me a truly sacred moment to sit back and reflect on the words you have written and how they strike home with me. Thanks Tamera. As always, you have brightened my day.

  11. Tamera just remember to be yourself. You are a gifted writer of a blog that oozes out a warmth and authenticity. You are a talented artist with your own unique brand of beauty and style.
When it comes to being in big groups of talented women it’s easy to forget who we are. To look around and get distorted. We make comparisons from a distance that over-glamorize others and leave us feeling somehow diminished…an observer of someone else’s shiny spotlight. I haven’t been to a blogging event yet, (although I think I’m ready) but I can relate to this post and your need to give yourself a positive self-talk in order to keep your perspective. Thank you for being so open with your vulnerable feelings and reminding me –and your readers—that we are all a work in progress. I SO appreciate your insight and wisdom on life.
I know you’re going to have a great time!
    xo

    1. My dearest Leslie … thank you for this marvelous gift of encouraging words. I have literally copied down notes … of your first two sentences … to tuck in my purse … to be pulled out … when needed. I so admire you and your heartfelt writings … so your words are of particular importance to me.

What an almost magical community … is our blogging sphere … where we are able to put out honest vulnerability … and have it received and returned with love … encouragement and wisdom … and when this happens … each of us, are able to go forth in the world ... and do more good … and have an opportunity to offer the same love and encouragement to others.

After writing this post … and receiving such loving support myself … I was able yesterday … to show up in a least imagined way … and offer loving support … in the way of a much need hug … to a women I had never seen before … but I could recognize the pain she was in … due to an unfolding incident. As I hugged her she broke down in sobs … I was able to whisper to her .. that her bravery was helping others … it was a sacred moment for me … to be right there … to offer love and support when it was most needed. I was able to step up … because of the love and encouragement I receive … here … in this blogging world … form wonderful souls like yourself.

We can all go far … in doing good in the world … when we line up side by side … and support each other … the ripple effect can be magical.

      In Love and Appreciation,
      Tamera

  12. These are great things to remind myself of for contentment every day, let alone attending a conference. One sip of a fruity drink, however, and all bets are off!
You are so right about the "highlight reel." I suspect that people at the conference will look at your shining presence and also feel all the things that you mention here. I hope you have a fantastic time and meet some compelling, intelligent, and stylish kindred spirits.

  19. Tamera dear, I'm just catching up after being away for nearly a month. Your authenticity, good intent and loving spirit shine through in this post. I've been fortunate to spend time with you three different occasions and I know your compassion and caring come through in person. I can't imagine you being a 'bitch' ;) but we all have our times. I like your reminders of holding on to ourselves and good intentions even when feeling anxious or emotional. I'll never forget how kind you were to me in our conversation at the Andaz when I was dealing with a mix of emotions from some personal things going on in life. You are a rock and a comfort when you need to be. I've seen it in action. I'm sorry I am unable to join you and the ladies at BlogHer this time due to our family reunion. Tip a toast my way and I'm already looking forward to our next get together.
    xx
