Summer Days With Lennon

This summer I was lucky enough to have my darling grand daughter
every Tuesday and Thursday!
I realized early on what a splendid opportunity it was
to get to know Lennon better.
My intent was to create calm days filled with
love and creativity.

This was Len's summer between kindergarten and first grade.
Such a remarkable age.

Which meant we got to work on reading!
I homeschooled my three
and
my very favorite was always watching the magic that is involved with
learning to read!

Lennon loves to create
so much time was spent in my studio
with all different types of mediums.

Days were spent creating for her unicorns.
She used clay to make furniture for all 8 of them.

Boxes were painted for their home.

Dioramas were made which included a bedroom with even
 a swing for two unicorns!
Rocks were painted.

Sunglasses were designed.

And of course homemade batches of slime retuned!

There was dressing up in mermaid sequins with
new princess doll outfits to coordinate!

One of my favorites was impromptu fort making under the dining room table.
Flashlights were needed when Len wanted to do
some unprompted drawing.
Watching her unbridled creativity is just magical.

I incorporated her fort artwork into our 4th of July tablescape!

Len's favorite PBS show was Pinkalicious and Peterrific!

I got to introduce some of my favorite  children movies as well

We started our days with a walk to the park
for some play, workbooks and reading.

Once it warmed up
it was time for the pool!

Playing in the pool with Lennon is definitely one of my favorite memories!
I literally had forgotten how to play
just for the sake of playing.
she reminded me just how fun just playing could be!

Time was even spent in the kitchen baking!

It's always so wonderful to see her mastery of new skills.

It was a magical summer for me to be sure.
Just to be able to spend quality time together.
To have the luxury of time
to be creative
to play
to introduce her to children movies I grew up on
and
to see her blossom in so many areas.

My heart is full.

As always my friends

I wish you love and joy
as you style your life
