Palm Springs Wardrobe Recap

After every wardrobe packing trip
I like to do a recap
of what I liked
and
notes to improve for the next trip.

I have to say this has been tremendously helpful
for packing these days
as my life allows me to travel more frequently.

This outfit is the culmination of some Palm Springs shopping.
The fabulous pants are from
Trina Turk.

The caftan tunic
was a find from the hotel gift store of all places.
Before I left home I had been on the hunt for just such a piece
never thought I would find one in a gift store!

The vintage sunglasses were found
way off the beaten path
in Pioneer Town.
About 40 minutes outside of Palm Springs
it originally came into existence
not only as a movie set but even more so for
a place for western stars the likes of
Roy Rogers to have homes.

This is the shot from my packing for Palm Springs
Come to find out
my vintage brooch necklace
(DIY here)
paired perfectly with my new
Palm Springs purchase.

I was quite happy with my
'white suit'.
The layers took it form
high end destinations in town
then all the way out to Pioneer town
with  just a shoe change and unlayering
to an off the shoulder T and shorts.

Ahh my Trina Turk pants purchase
still makes me happy.
The light weight jersey will make them perfect
for our summer heat come August and September.

This is what I packed …

And this is how it turned out.

I chose not to go with the necklace
and opted for my
biggest straw hat instead.

I was ever so happy with the mix of
crystals, a bright pop, whites
topped off with straw accessories.

I was happy with my new caftan ...

I chose to wear it out for dinner at Melvyn's
with just my floral crown
(DIY here)
and
sunglasses.

I always pack a multitude of accessory choices
so I can have options
depending on the
destination
weather
and most importantly
my mood that day.

I paired my J Crew sweatshirt
with ...

my Anthropologie ball skirt
for a morning stroll for coffee.
I omitted all accessories except my Panama hat
for my idea of a casual  morning walking the hotel property.

This beautiful sun hat never made it to the pool.
One of the only outfits that never made it out of the suitcase.
Besides having so much to see and do in
Palm Springs
the 105 plus temperatures
made laying out an unappealing idea.
I really am never one to be able to be content
laying out anyway.

So all in all
I was quite pleased with my packing choices.
The time invested in
styling outfits before a trip
has never let me down
even though each time during the process
I wonder if it's worth all of the
 time and effort

But each time upon review
I know that it it,

That being said
I will be packing today
for our weekend
in
Avila Beach
going to my darling daughter's graduation from
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

A beach pop up picnic party
will be involved
so a lot of strategizing will be needed.
Wish me luck!

As always my friends

I wish you love and joy
as you style your life

  1. A very luscious recap! That top outfit is exactly the kinds of things I want to learn to sew for myself. I have a hard time finding pants that are long enough and there are so many beautiful fabrics out there. Love those hats too! Looks like you had a wonderful time. It probably inspired new jewelry making as well. Have a nice weekend!

  4. Thank you for sharing your travels. I'm captured by the sunburst and white photo as I'm a fan of the block wall design, used in Miami as well - quite popular within a specific decade. Nearly a Tory Burch inverness signature, your photo juxtaposing now and then, highlights your theme of walking amidst history. As garments are a transient artform, architecture a longer life, our experience living in and amongst, transformative. As truly, we are all that changes over time.
