.... LA for supplies and lunch .... giveaway winner ....

My jewelry line is doing  well so
Saturday called for a quick trip to downtown LA
to the jewelry district for some needed supplies...
and of course
 lunch.
We live about an hour south of LA so getting supplies is always a great excuse to explore LA
and
discover new places to eat...
and
whatever new treasured spots we find along the way.

Getting supplies in downtown... and ending up some where new for lunch  is always
as wardrobe challenge.
I need something functional enough to dig for treasures in the  fashion district..
and not stand out too much....
while at the same time end up somewhere chic for lunch.

So a Saturday LA run for supplies  seemed the perfect time to try out
some recently discovered scarf tying.
My cousin Annette had posted the clearest directions, of  new to me,
scarf tying.
I  also posted it on my facebook page...just to keep track of the instructions until fall.
One of my style icons Debra Rapoport form Advanced Style
by Ari Seth Cohen... ( Debra is on pages 52-57, our dear Judith of the Style Crone is on page 202)
commented  on my facebook post
she wasn't going to wait for fall to try the technique....
which made me rethink....how I could use the idea this summer.

So the outfit began with my silk scarf from India....
tied in a brand new way...
and each piece was added from there.

Flat walking shoes are a must...
these sweet ones are actually a Target find...

An outfit that has some sort of a jacket is usually a requirement for my trips to LA
I like the feeling of being put together... as well as
the feeling of some protective armor :).

Another necessity is a large shopper....
to hold  treasured purchases....
while still having free hands to continue in the hunt.

After my list was successfully fulfilled...
it was off to our lunching destination.

We chose Perch which is in the heart of downtown next to Pershing Square...
on the rooftop of the historic Perch building...
which meant the views of the city skyline were massive.

After our lunch it was time to do some walking to see what else we could stumble upon.

Right around the corner we found
The Last Bookstore...
for any bibliophile... this is hallowed ground these days
Set in a massive two story historic space...and filled  to the brim with not only books, but with book inspired Art installations...
as well as a promenade  lined  with working studios/shops.
It definitely has been added to our list of treasured LA finds.
.
It wouldn't be a weekend trip to LA without seeing the NYPD...
One of the treats of LA is seeing production crews of both movies and TV, which are a pretty common occurrence...
but they still intrigue me each and every time.

We had a great day in LA...
got some needed business done...
while having an opportunity to find new treasures...
My favorite way to travel and sight see.

I want to thank everybody for the overwhelming participation
and support for my shop opening...
It truly touched my heart.

  10. I laughed about how you see NYPD cars in LA. We get them here in Vancouver all the time too. Those policemen are surely overworked.
I loved your black and white photo - it looks like you're ready to take on the world, and with the well-deserved popularity of your jewellery, it seems to be happening. I couldn't be more thrilled.

  14. As usual, your simultaneously crisp and exotic style wows us all. Did you know in advance that your adorable little flats would mix brilliantly with the tiles? No, you just breathe the ability in from the Universe, Tamera ...
