..... this weekend we had the privilege to be a part of the most amazing wedding ....
every single part felt like the best of anything pinterest had to offer....
every single part felt like the best of anything pinterest had to offer....
what struck me most....
the soul of this wedding...
I could absolutely feel God in the room...from ceremony to reception...
For this wonderful indie wedding, which was held in the Strawberry Fields barn...
I wanted to wear an ensemble that spoke not only to the wedding...
but also to the location and soul of this vintage inspired occasion.
I chose my vintage Chanel meets Anthropologie jacket (last seen here)
this time I paired it with the matching skirt.
Having been cold all day... I added my vintage fox collar.
As a nod to the barn location... I paired the boucle suit with a dark chambray shirt.
Bringing the outfit to a perfect finish...
my recent vintage find...a crewel 'pocketbook'.
A change of shoes... taking off the fur and putting on a blue striped breton.... this outfit goes much more casual.... and errand worthy.
It has been almost a month since I returned from ALT...
which no matter how challenging along the way it was for me....
I absolutely loved ALT....
but I have realized that since ALT....
I lost my direction...
Being... and hearing...
all the fabulous goings on in ... and things one could do...
I lost track of what I wanted to do...
You see...
this blog is a small blog...
purposely...
and
proudly...
this little blog has been a path back...
to a me...
who got lost along the way...
of giving everything wholeheartedly to parenting...
and raising a family...
and that was good for then...
but now....
it is my duty to find my way back
to my authentic me...
because I know...
the more of me I find...
the more I have to give....
I need to keep this space...
mine..
a place...
where I am happy to just share.
{I write this to remind
me
of my intent and purpose...}

I wish you love and joy

and discover your own voice
I'm so glad that you are using your voice again! You have a beautiful voice. And beautiful style. xo, ab
ReplyDeleteAnne thank you for your encouraging words!
DeleteLovely Tamera~One of the things I love most about visiting 'your place' is your blend of style, glamour and authenticity. You are a style setter who is not afraid to rock the pearls and fabulous fashion, yet are also genuine in sharing your own journey, mixed emotions and finding your place after a life filled with raising a family. You may not always know it, but your voice is true and clear.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this reality. I know many of us feel the same way at times about finding our voice. Trust me, we need your lovely voice in this community. Lovely post lady!
xx, Heather
Heather thank you so very much for your gift of such fine words. My heart is full with gratitude!

Deletethe more you find you the more you will have to give!! boom.
ReplyDeleteyou must have looked just as pinterest-y as the rest of the bridal party,
fitting right in with style and grace, what a beauty you are, inside and out.
xo
Thank you dear Gina! You always leave comments so full of love... True gifts of heart they are!
DeleteWonderful inspiration and reminder my friend!! And those gams of yours?? Gorgeous. You should always wear skirts!! Have a great day,
ReplyDeleteJennifer
Jennifer you are so kind! You have been on my mind as I wonder how things are progressing with you....
DeleteThis was the first time I wore a skirt in I don't no how long .... I must say it was a fun change from my usual white pant! I think I might play more with some in my closet that haven't gotten out much!
How lovely. Thank you for sharing such a beautifully profound post. I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteStopping by via the Pleated Poppy and a follower since 2 weeks ago!
Blessings!!
Thank you Shon, so happy you are here! Thanks for visiting from South Carolina and kudos on you training!!
DeleteHow wonderful set, are attractive and elegant as ever. The suit jacket is gorgeous. I love the color and the design is fantastic. The bag and shoes are spectacular. One of your best outfits, no doubt. This look will inspire one of my next posts. A Tamera truly divine.
ReplyDeleteThank you oh so very much my dear josep-maria!! I am so flattered by your praise as I know what a great and stylish eye you have... Your pinterest boards and blog are a testament to your great Spanish taste! I am always so excited to be included... many thanks!!!
DeleteTamera, you look amazing as always. And this was a good reminder for me too. After Alt, I actually began using my own voice, but while there I felt myself being pulled into "blogger style." Why, I thought, wasn't I also wearing more tulle or polka dots? How come I didn't have perfect hair or look good in thick framed glasses? And then I came home and realized it's because those things aren't me. And that's okay. I loved seeing you at Alt because you stood out and looked so distinct. I'm glad to hear you're pulling that same idea into your writing as well. xo
ReplyDeleteI think at ALT, being surrounded by so much creative talent... it was easy to be pulled in various ways. Mine was feeling that if I was going to blog... it should be done larger and more successfully.... I began to put so much pressure on myself... to achieve .... I found myself not wanting to even blog... I lost my own intent to just have an online journal... a place for self reflection and personal style.
DeleteJoy thank you so much for commenting... it is so nice to know I am not alone in getting pulled away from 'my' won self direction at ALT. Will you be going to ALT NYC or SF?
You are such a beautiful person, inside and out. I feel like I tell you this every time I come here but it's so true!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely, elegant, glamorous, and happy!
xo, A
Adrienne thank you so for your generous words! And thanks again for the inspirations with intentional shopping!
DeleteThis is style. Serious style. Classic style with a twist. Elegant style with an edge. I tip my hat to you.
ReplyDeletebisous
Suzanne
Thank you my dear... your words perfectly describe my intent with this styling!
DeleteWonderful skirt. I have one very similar that I need to shorten, and I have been hesitant about the best length. Now that I've seen you looking so lovely in yours, I know just how short to go. Thank you, thank you! It isn't going to be the easiest task because I have to remove the bottom piece, cut and then re-hem; but I now have the confidence to move forward.
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of ALT, I find your post and your discussion with Joy interesting. When I go to inspirational conferences, of which I am certain ALT was for you, I just plain 'ol get overwhelmed with all the possibilities. I come home so enthused, eager, call it what you will, that I can't move forward. Sounds backward, I know; but I am learning to accept that I need time to allow all the new inspiration to integrate with who I am.
Sue xo
Sue good luck with the skirt alterations!
DeleteI have had the same reaction to ALT as you mention. What a wonderful outlook and self recognition you have ...learning to accept that I need time to allow all the new inspiration to integrate with who I am"... So well said!! I am finding exactly that to be true! Tahnk you very much for such an insightful comment!
Beyond stunning, my dear Tamera. I love the suit and want your wonderful bag.
ReplyDeleteXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you my very dear Sacramento!
DeleteEveryone wanted to know who the "lady in pick" was!! And I told them...that is my dear, dear friend that helped me look so fab on my daughters wedding day. And the one who got her most special friend there. And, yes, she is the one that put my jewelry together. And I think I could go on and on and on and on. My neighbors have NEVER seen me like that. Ha Love you girl. Oh, and now I'm the one crying. many many thanks. hearts and hugs and love and warmth. from the bottom of my heart. thank you.
ReplyDeleteChristy you do know how to get me in tears :) Helping you look stunning for such a life moment... truly my honor! Thanks for trusting my advice and rocking the fabulous earring I made just for your gorgeous dress!
DeleteI am in total awe of the event.... besides the tremendous beauty and style at the wedding... it was the family love and adoration you all had for each other.... it moved my soul! You have always been my matriarchal role model... for a fun loving strong family.... but now my dear...you make me want to do better and give more... you are my mamma idol now :) Much much much love to you dearest friend!

ReplyDeleteIt's easy to lose our way with the blogs...so many different directions and inspirations. But your voice comes through so clearly, whatever you post. We each have our own "groove" and journey.
I am so happy to hear my voice comes through clearly... thank you. As much as I love sharing style... it is the connecting that makes my heart happy!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kathleen!
DeleteI hope you didn't steal all the attention away from the bride! That is a beautiful suit, and I love the way you paired it with blue. And the pocketbook is to die for!
ReplyDeleteSometimes a quiet break is the best way to recharge your creativity. The worst thing is to feel guilty about it.
I agree breaks can be great for ones creativity.... they just scare me a little that I will weave to far out of focus... into the vast abyss of procrastination!
DeleteYour new glasses are oh so stylish my dear!
You are glamorous in pink and an inspiration always. How fun to be able to wear this special suit to a wedding and for more casual occasions. Your accessories thrill!
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean by 'a path back.' Blogging has a way of keeping me on track, processing as I share. I appreciate your genuine self expression, both with your outfits and your writing.
Judith thank you so much for visiting! Such words of praise from the accessory master herself! Your vintage apron use... ahhh!
Deletei have very much appreciated your honest sharing of your path back, I have been encouraged by your bravery in transitioning to your newest phase of life! Now as you prepare for your birthday celebration I send you much love and gratitude!
You look breathtaking as always. Your artistic and original spirit shines through all that you do.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for these words. I have been struggling with how to balance blogging and real life. In fact, I posted about that tonight. So, it was lovely to hear you speak some of the encouragement that I needed to hear about staying true to myself.
Thank you Diane! I read your post and boy can I relate to the yearning to balance it all. So often I feel like I get one ball, maybe even two in the air successfully... but boy not being able to master the third ... and it feels as they all come down! Thank you for sharing honestly your balancing struggles.
DeleteYou look absolutely stunning. I love how you shared both versions with us, it's always fun to see the creative outlets of others. I also loved reading your entire post realizing we're not alone in our feelings. You have so much to share in words, creatvity, and style, so glad I found your blog.
ReplyDeleteTrina thank you so very much! I so enjoy your blog also... I actually found it on one of Josep-Marias fashion round ups!
DeleteTamera, I just found the way to your incredible blog via Patti's "Visible Mondays" and I am so glad I did!

ReplyDelete(what is ALT by the way?)
ALT is the acronym for Altitude Design Summit. It is a primarily a blogging design conference, pulling in some great creatives in many industries. The button on my site will take you to their site... check it out... I can't speak highly enough of them!

ReplyDeleteOh Tamara, I love your mission statement. I'm on the other end of parenting. My girls are 5 and 7 and I'm working to show them women can and sometimes HAVE to have a career. I love that you shared this personal mantra and I am so thrilled to always see and learn from your style. If you are ever in NYC let me take you out for a drink!
