chalk board gift tags and ornaments....

 When I wrap my gifts...
I like to tie on a little gift....

 So this year
since I am so excited
 with all things
 chalk board
I have done
 gift tags
which can be used afterwards as ornaments
place cards

creating personalized messages
and momentos

before I proceed with sharing my fun idea...
I would be remiss
if I didn't give proper credit to the idea man...
Hunter Saunders Beardsley...
my son
who last year made me these fabulous chalk board ornaments...

and was the inspiration behind the tags...
thank you Hunter!!

For all of you DIYers...
these steps couldn't be simpler...
and work most efficiently in mass.

  1. Grab some wooden bases... found at most craft stores
  2. Drill holes- wide enough for ribbon or twine
  3. Spray paint with chalk board paint...I was happily surprised how quickly the wood was coated...we got our paint from Home Depot.  One can does about 25 tags...depending on their size.
  4. String with ribbon or twine of your choice.  For Thanksgiving I used these for place cards...I used thick jute and cut it about 24 inches long.  This enabled me to wrap the napkins twice and still knot the ends.

get out your chalk,
and let the fun begin!

This year I'm wrapping with my beloved
 kraft paper...
+ drop cloth ribbon
and of course
my chalk board tags.

which then can transform themselves to
personalized ornaments!

 or place cards...

with dates and messages to cherish...

with the simple stroke of chalk...

 for a little more permanence...
oil pastels can be used...

For those of you short on time this year
these tags should make it into my shop by next week.

 Wishing you love and joy
as you style your life

thanks so for stopping by
