the living room's summer centerpiece.....

Bringing home the summer celebration, the living room centerpiece.

Starting with our bare handmade table, (handmade by my very talented husband I might add).

I add my textile, this is a rug folded in half. I love the heaviness of the texture and the faded blues.  It has truly spent time in the backyard, many summers, to obtain the aged quality that I so admire.

Next, my soapstone 'platter'.  Like most all my accessories I have curated over the years, it has been an actor that has played many roles. This summer, it will embrace summer dreams.

Added to the soapstone, a treasured piece of wood from a dear friend and fellow designer.  She knew I would be so excited at the  design opportunities of two pieces pinon pine. She brought them back as a gift, from her family's Arizona property . I use them every summer and always in a different way.

Atop the pinon, our Airstream model, which we received as a gift when we bought the real thing.

The finishing touch, white rice.  I love the color and the texture, how it visually references the sands of summer.

A centerpiece complete!
